ROAD WOES: The ‘Kings picked up two out of six possible points last week. After being shutout by the Mississippi Surge on the road, the RiverKings bounced back in a 4-1 win against the Columbus Cotton Mouths Friday night on home ice. The RiverKings then extended their road loss streak to three as they fell to the Ice Bears in Knoxville Saturday. Forwards Ian Finnerty, Todd Hosmer and Matt Whitehead all notched three points in the three-game week while Mike MacDonald tallied four points (1G, 3A) in the last three games played.

THREE-GAME WEEK PART TWO: As the grinding December schedule comes to an end, the RiverKings close out the month in another three-game week with two of the games being played on the road. The RiverKings take on the Louisiana Ice Gators in Lafayette, La tonight.The RiverKings are 1-4 when battling Louisiana this season. The 'Kings first game of the new year is Thursday on home ice when they take on the first-place FireAntz at 7:05 p.m. The boys then travel to Pensacola Saturday to battle the Ice Flyers for the sixth time this season.

ROOKIES RULE: RiverKings rookies continue to make their way to the top of the league leading in points. Forwards Ian Finnerty and Todd Hosmer are tied for second place leading rookies in points. Jeremy Dawes, Nick Walsh, Patrick Gaul and Andrew Randazzo are others in the top 20.

ROSTER MOVES: Louisiana has had quite the roster changes this past week. Forwards Jeremy Boyer and Kyle OKane were signed to contracts, while forward Andrew Howes was waived. Defenseman Rob Lawrence was activated from the IR and forward Matt Miler was place on the 30 day IR. The RiverKings have made some adjustments as well. Last week forward Anthony Pototschnik was waived and forward Mike MacDonald was signed to a contract. Kevin Fukala was placed on the 30 day IR and Matt Harrington was signed to his second three game tryout. MacDonald has tallied four points (1G, 3A) in five games with the RiverKings, while Harrington has accumulated three points (1 G, 2A) in six games played.

VIEW FROM LOUISIANA: The RiverKings and Ice Gators meet for the fifth time this season tonight in Louisiana. The last time the two teams faced off, Patrick Gaul’s game-winning goal with two seconds remaining in the third period gave the RiverKings the one-goal lead for a 4-3 victory on the road on Dec. 2. When playing against the RiverKings, Denny Kearney has notched seven points (3G, 4A) in the four games played. Louisiana is coming into Tonight’s game 2-3-0 in the last five games played.

VIEW FROM FAYETTEVILLE: The RiverKings face the FireAntz for the first time this season Thursday night at the Lander’s Center. Fayetteville holds the top spot in the league and is 8-4-0 when playing on the road. Fayetteville’s four game winning streak came to and end last weekend as they fell to the last place RiverHawks in overtime. Forward Josh McQuade tallied a goal in the game and leads the team and the league, with 35 points (19 G, 16A) in 23 games played.

VIEW FROM PENSACOLA: Before entering Saturday’s game, Pensacola will take on Columbus Thursday night and Augusta Friday. In the last five games played, Pensacola has posted a 3-2-0 record. When taking on the RiverKings, Patrick Knowlton has tallied eight points (3G, 5A) in five games played. Knowlton leads the team in points with 24 (13G, 11A) in 23 games. The last time the RiverKings and Ice Flyers met, the RiverKings fell 7-2 on the road.
