Sheldon visits campers at Camp B.O.L.D

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. – Mississippi RiverKings mascot, Sheldon the Turtle, visited Camp B.O.L.D at Longview Heights Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 23. It is the first of four visits the RiverKings will make to Camp B.O.L.D in the next few weeks.

Campers had a chance to take pictures with Sheldon and some campers took Sheldon on a tour to show off the different activities going on at the camp.

"Our campers just love Sheldon," said Rebecca Treadway, Executive Director of Camp B.O.L.D. "The RiverKings have been a part of Camp B.O.L.D for many years. We appreciate how willing everyone at the RiverKings organization is to support our programs for individuals with disabilities."

Camp B.O.L.D is a one-week summer day camp program for children and adults with developmental disabilities. The camp strives to create a traditional camp environment for the campers by pairing each child with a middle or high school student counselor as their peer buddy for the week. They participate in daily camp activities together as a team. Each week new campers attend Camp B.O.L.D, with the age group of the camp increasing each week.

The RiverKings will hold "Sticks are for Kids" clinics at Camp B.O.L.D on July 8, July 15 and July 21.
