Sheldon Runs for Autism Awareness

By: Caitlyn Hutchins
September 18, 2014

RiverKings mascot Sheldon the turtle participated in the Sensory World Autism Awareness 5K and family day on September 13.

Runners were greeted by cheerleaders and mascots before taking the 3.1-mile journey. After the race, participants had the chance to attend a health fair.

β€œWe at Sensory World know and understand the struggle, pain, and anxiety experienced while dealing with a loved one with special needs,” said race director Justin Whitley. β€œIn a city where autism is severely overlooked, our goal is to expand the accessibility of sensory resources from online to the touch of your hands, and in the comfort of your own home.”

If you would like Sheldon to visit your event, please contact Caitlyn Hutchins at Caitlyn@riverkings.com or 662.342.1755.
