Sheldon Earns a Badge at Camp Currier's Cub Scout Camp

HERNANDO, Miss.-- RiverKings mascot Sheldon the turtle became a turtle scout and earned his first badge in, of course, hockey! The cub scouts at Camp Currier spent time with Sheldon after they participated in the RiverKings’ Sticks are for Kids program on Thursday, July 11, 2013.

Each group of either tigers or wolves got their turn to earn their hockey belt loop through a visit from Sheldon and the RiverKings. The requirement for this honor is to learn the rules and play the game for 30 minutes.

“We appreciate the RiverKings coming to Camp Currier each year and allowing our cub scouts to earn their hockey badges,” said Camp Director Allison Hensley. “This year might have been the best one yet.”

The “Sticks Are For Kids” program allows the RiverKings to get out in the community and teach children the basics of hockey, and facilitate and supervise hockey scrimmages. The RiverKings provide all equipment and instruction required.
