Sharks Continue Their Winning Ways

HERNANDO, Miss. — The Sharks have feasted on their opponents in recent weeks and pulled into a tie for first place after going undefeated in week five.

The first game of the week saw the Gladiators (5-2) taking on the Sharks (3-3) after the teams met only three days earlier. The first half featured both teams trading blows but the Sharks took the advantage into halftime, 6-5. The second half had plenty of fireworks but the Sharks, behind hat tricks by both Conner Iverson and Jack Jewell, pulled out the victory 16-11. Austin Wiggins and Zack White teamed up for seven goals and one assist in the losing effort.

Game two of week five brought the Stars (2-4) up against the Sharks (4-3). The Stars could not find the back of the net in the first half as they trailed at the intermission 6-0. In the second half, the Stars beat the Sharks’ defense six times, picking up three assists, but it wasn't enough to make up for the first half deficit. The final was 14-6 as the Sharks won their fifth consecutive game behind another hat trick by Conner Iverson and a two goal, one assist effort by Ethan Lyons.

If we learned one thing over the last couple of weeks, it is that no team is out of the race until the season is over. Week six will feature the Gladiators trying to discover their winning ways again, and the Stars looking to make a run. Meanwhile, both teams will try to slow down the scorching Sharks.
