SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced that the team has signed forward Dakota Dubetz for the 2013-14 season. Terms and conditions were not released.

Dubetz, 24, comes to the RiverKings after completing his collegiate career at Marian University, where he collected 130 points (48G, 82A) in 106 games with the Sabres.

"Dakota is a highly skilled player who has had success at the junior and college levels," Landmesser said. "We are looking for that same success as he makes the jump to professional hockey."

The Chestermore, Alberta native believes the RiverKings are the right fit for his rookie year.

"I've heard really good things about the RiverKings organization throughout the off-season," Dubetz said. "(Marian University  Hockey) Coach (A.J.) Aiken had great things to say about Coach Landmesser and it looks to be a great place for me to start my professional career."

Prior to joining the Sabres, the 5-foot-10, 210-pound forward played his junior hockey for Fort McMurray of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He tallied 136 points in his three-year career with the Oil Barons.

The RiverKings open their 2013-14 quest for the President's Cup at home on October 26 against the Louisiana IceGators. Group tickets start at $8 and are available by contacting the RiverKings front office at 662-342-1755.
