RiverThing visits SPARK summer camp at Hutchison School

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Mississippi RiverKings mascot, RiverThing, visited SPARK summer camp at Hutchison School in Memphis to meet the campers and teach them hockey with the RiverKings "Sticks are for Kids" program.

"Each week at SPARK summer camp is dedicated to a particular theme and this week's theme was 'Get in the Game'," said SPARK Director Lisa Campbell. "We wanted to expose our campers to local sports teams, and what better way to get campers excited about a team than meeting their mascot! The River Kings graciously donated their time to us in an exciting, educational, and interactive presentation."

RiverThing helped Broadcaster Lukas Favale teach the campers the basics of hockey, including how to properly hold a stick, how to pass and shoot, and some of the rules of the game. The campers were then broken up into groups and had a chance to try out what they learned in a game.

"The campers were able to learn a little bit about the sport of hockey and even participated in a pick-up hockey game complete with pads, goals, and sticks," said Campbell. "They especially loved getting to interact and play with "Thing" the RiverKings Mascot. Overall the campers loved this informative and energetic activity!"

If you would like RiverThing to appear at your school, camp or event, contact Lukas Favale via email at lukas@riverkings.com or by calling 662-342-1755.
