WEEKEND RECAP: The RiverKings extended their winning streak to four games over the weekend with wins over Columbus and Huntsville on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday, the RiverKings had to come back from an early goal from Columbus' Dan Bremner 7:24 into the opening frame, but Leo Thomas tied the score at one later in the first. The team's traded third period goals to send the game to overtime where Matt Harrington notched his second game-winning goal of the season. On Saturday, the RiverKings surrendered the first goal of the game to Huntsville, but scored four unanswered and Dan McWhinney stopped 36 of 37 shots against his former team in a 4-1 victory.

TOP OF THE WORLD: After the wins, goaltenders Dan McWhinney and Matt Krahn find themselves ranked first and third in the league respectively in goals against average (GAA). McWhinney's 94.7 save percentage is also tops in the league, while Matt Krahn's 3-0-0 mark leaves him as the only unbeaten netminder in the SPHL.

LIGHTING THE LAMP: After having his five-game point streak broken on Friday, Todd Hosmer responded with a three-point (2G, 1A) effort in Saturday's win over Huntsville. His 14 points rank him third in the league, while his two short-handed goals tie him with linemate Leo Thomas for the league-lead.

WELCOME BACK: Prior to Friday's game, the RiverKings announced the signing of defenseman Tyler Sheldrake. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound blueliner returned to the Mid-South after opening the season with the CHL's Wichita Thunder. Over the weekend, Sheldrake recorded one shot on goal and had two fights.

SURGING INTO TOWN: The Surge come to Southaven as winners in three of their last five games. Right winger Mitch Bruijsten leads the team with six goals and one assists through eight games. In his last appearance, goaltender Mathieu Dugas stopped 50 of 51 shots against in a 2-1 win over the Pensacola Ice Flyers and has won four of his last five starts. Dugas and the Surge power play are one of three units to have not allowed a shorthanded goal this season.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The RiverKings hit the road to Huntsville on Saturday to take on the Havoc for the second time in as many weeks. The Havoc are coming off a 6-2 victory over Columbus on Sunday after dropping two straight and reclaimed the league-lead in goals scored with 38. Winger Mike Gurtler registered a goal and two assists in Sunday's game and now has points in seven of nine games this season. Saturday marks the beginning of a four-game home stand for the Havoc, who are 2-0-0 on home ice.

TEEN NIGHT: The RiverKings will host the second Friday Night Teen Night of the season this weekend when they take on the Mississippi Surge.
