SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Backed by Dan McWhinney's 36 effort and Todd Hosmer's three-point night, the Mississippi RiverKings (6-2-0) knocked off the Huntsville Havoc (4-3-1) 4-1 on Saturday night.

It was Huntsville who struck first. Brandon Perry's wrap-around beat Dan McWhinney low, glove side to give the Havoc the lead just 4:52 into the action. But the RiverKings countered on the power play when the puck bounced off the back wall, onto the tape of Todd Hosmer who beat Kevin Genoe up top to tie the game at one heading into the first intermission.

The RiverKings tallied a pair in the second. Charles Lachance's shot trickled past Genoe 1:34 into the second period to give the RiverKings a lead they would not relinquish. Leo Thomas added a second-period insurance marker when he buried a pass from Matt Whitehead to the back of the net at the midway point of the middle frame to put the RiverKings up 3-1.

In the third, Hosmer capitalized on his second breakaway attempt of the night when he beat Genoe high, glove side on the penalty kill to give the RiverKings the 4-1 victory.

Dan McWhinney (3-2-0) took the win after stopping 36 of 37 shots against. Kevin Genoe (2-1-1) stopped 30 of 34 shots against in the loss.

The RiverKings finish their five-game homestand on Friday, November 22 against the Mississippi Surge. It's Friday Night Teen Night where teenagers can receive a red-level ticket, popcorn and a soda for just $10, available exclusively through the Landers Center Box Office.
