RiverKings sweep home-and-home with IceGators

LAFAYETTE, LA -- The Mississippi RiverKings (9-11-2) won another close game with the Louisiana IceGators (11-8-3), 3-2, at the Cajundome in Louisiana to win both ends of a home-and-home series with the IceGators. After a back-and-forth second period Linden Bahm broke the tie with the eventual game-winning goal in the third.

After a scoreless first the IceGators got the game's first goal at 8:20 of the second period. Adam Stuart got credit for the power-play goal with a one-timer from the left circle. The lead last 20 seconds before Dylan Quaile tied it up for the RiverKings. Luke Warner had the puck at the right circle and sent one in front, where Quaile redirected it past Andrew Flemming.

The RiverKings grabbed their first lead with 5:19 left in the second. On their third power play of the game the RiverKings worked the puck in the offensive zone. Sean Jones got it at the bottom of the right circle where his shot was saved by Flemming. The rebound bounced in front and pinballed in off Tanner Burton, giving Jones his first goal of the season. The RiverKings lead only lasted for 1:23 before Tyler Klein made it 2-2, converted on a pass from Shawn McNeil.

In the third the RiverKings took the lead for good at 7:33. Devin Mantha and Dan Delisle went to work along the left boards. Eventually the puck went towards the crease and after a scramble Bahm swooped in and roofed it to make it 3-2. The IceGators managed just five shots in the third, and Adam Courchaine stopped them all to give the RiverKings their second win in as many nights over the IceGators.

Notes: Linden Bahm, who scored his first professional goal Friday against the IceGators, now has goals in back-to-back games with his game-winning goal tonight... Sean Jones replaced Matt Harrington, who was loaned to ECHL-Wheeling, on a line with Leo Thomas and Matt Whitehead and scored his first goal of the season... The RiverKings have now won a season-high three straight games.
