RiverKings stymied by de Melo, Havoc

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Mississippi RiverKings (23-14-7) threw 22 shots on goal, but Ryan de Melo and the Huntsville Havoc (22-20-3) denied them all as the RiverKings fell to the Havoc 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Huntsville.

The Havoc found the back of the net first. Scott Henegar threw a shot on goal and Matt Robertson picked up the rebound and slid it past goaltender Garrett Sheehan on the power play to put Huntsville on top 1-0 13:34 into the first.

Huntsville extended their lead in the third. John Lidgett took a pass from Jason Popek and beat Sheehan from the slot to stretch their lead to 2-0. Then, six minutes later, John McGinnis picked up a loose puck in the low slot and backhanded it past the outstretch leg of Sheehan to give Huntsville their 3-0 victory.

Garrett Sheehan (9-10-5) took the loss after stopping 23 of 26 shots on goal. Ryan de Melo (3-2-0) stopped all 22 shots in the win.

The RiverKings were scoreless on four power play opportunities, while Huntsville was 1-4.
