RiverKings Re-Sign Captain Thomas For 2014

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced Friday that the team has re-signed Captain Leo Thomas. Terms and conditions were not released.

"I am very excited to have our captain back for another season," Landmesser said. "Leo brings the veteran leadership on and off the ice and instantly makes everyone he plays with better and his desire to win is second to none."

Thomas, 32, enters his 12th professional season in 2014-15 and has one goal for what he believes may be his final year.

"Making the playoffs last season was a huge accomplishment, but I want to win, so losing in the first round was a tough pill to swallow," Thomas said. "I'm coming into this season with a championship on my mind and I'm going to make sure that everybody in that locker room from veterans to rookies has the same mindset throughout the entire season."

Last season, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward posted 40 points (17G, 23A) in 48 games. The Toronto, Ont. native has collected 483 points in 673 career professional games across various "AAA", "AA" and "A" leagues.

The RiverKings open their 2014-15 quest for the President's Cup on October 24 and 25 at the Landers Center in Southaven, Miss.
