RiverKings Prepare for Another Busy Weekend

WEEKEND RECAP: The RiverKings began the week last Tuesday with a thrilling 4-3 shootout victory over the Huntsville Havoc. Over the weekend, the team headed north to play the Thunder Friday and Saturday and the Rivermen on Sunday. Friday night’s action was all RiverKings scored three power play goals enroute to win 7-3. The two teams were back at on Saturday as the RiverKings continued to dominate the Thunder scoring two more power play goals as John Griggs picked up his first win in the 4-2 victory. The weekend finale in Peoria told a different story as the RiverKings out shot the RIvermen but could not get anything past Kyle Rank and fell 3-0.

RIVERKINGS: Unable to complete the week sweep against Peoria, the RiverKings refocus their attention on another three-in-three.
• The RiverKings hold the best power play unit in the league, converting 20.4% of their 181 man-advantage opportunities.

• The RiverKings have scored the first goal in two of their last five games, improving to 13-2-2 when tallying the first point.
• The RiverKings are 3-5-1 during three-in-three series' this season.
• With a 10-0-2 record, the RiverKings are the only team undefeated in regulation when leading after one.

CONTROLLING THE HAVOC: The RiverKings begin the weekend with their last meetings of the season against the Havoc as part of a home and home series.
• The sliding Havoc are losers of four straight games and have fallen to fifth place in the league.
• The Havoc are 2-3-1 against the RiverKings this season.
• Although the team poses the worst road penalty kill unit in the league, the Havoc have the third best penalty kill at home.

• When leading after two periods of play, the Havoc at home are 12-0-0, but 5-4-1 on the road.
• With the departure of Josh Harris to the Arizona Sundogs, the Havoc signed forward Brandon Parkhouse, who spent 12 games with the Thunder this season and registered four assists.

LOSING RATTLE: After Saturday night’s game in Huntsville, the RiverKings travel to Georgia to play the Cottonmouths for the first of four meetings within a three-week span.
• The Cottonmouths are losers of four of their last five games and begin a four game in six-day set with a road game on Tuesday.
• Columbus is clinging to the final playoff spot in the league and are three points up on Bloomington with three games in hand.
• Unable to register a win this season against the RiverKings, the Cottonmouths have seen two separate leads slip away and hold a 0-1-2 record.
• Left winger Jordan Draper comes into this week’s action riding a seven-game point streak that includes four goals and five assists.

PINK THE RINK: Come out to the game Friday night and help the RiverKings support Breast Cancer Awareness with commemorative pink jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.

TEEN NIGHT:

Friday night’s game is also teen night with tickets just $10. Teens receive a seat at the game, a popcorn and soda.

AWAY GAME WATCH PARTY:

Cheer on the RiverKings with fellow fans at Old Style Barbecue, the Official Headquarters of the RiverKings Away Game Watch Parties, on Saturday and Sunday. Puck drops on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

TURTLE SNAPS: Devin Mantha had his three-game point streak broken by the Rivermen on Sunday night, and has points in seven of his last ten…. Matt Whitehead has three assists thus far against the Cottonmouths… Burke Gallimore recorded a goal and two assists in his first two games with the RiverKings after being claimed off waivers from Bloomington.
