RiverKings power play scores 2 in win

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – The RiverKings showed their resiliency once again, coming back and winning over the Knoxville Ice Bears 6-4 Friday night in Knoxville, Tennessee. The RiverKings power play scored 2 goals on the SPHL's top penalty kill.

Trever Hertz scored first for the Ice Bears a minute and twenty-seven seconds in to the game giving the Ice Bears the early lead. Two penalties by the Ice Bears gave the RiverKings a five on three power play to try and get game tied. Chris Leone sent a laser slap shot past Brian Billett on the two man advantage to tie the game up. Mike Grace gave the RiverKings their first lead of the game, scoring on a pass from Mike Moran.

Joseph Manno tied the game up early on in the 2nd, after receiving a saucer pass from Berkley Scott in the slot to wrist one past Peter Di Salvo.  The Ice Bears regained the lead after Mark Pustin scored on his former team on a pass from Joseph Manno.

31 seconds in to the third, the RiverKings tied up the game on Mike Moran's goal on his own rebound shot to beat Billett. John Marshal sent a shot past Di Salvo who was screened by Mitch Vandergunst to give the Ice Bears the lead again. The RiverKings stayed resilient and scored on a Mike Grace shot that Tyler Barr deflected in to bring the game back even.  Spencer Metcalfe took an interference call and put the RiverKings back in front on Ryan Marcuz's goal from Chris Leone and Mike Moran with under seven minutes left to go in the third. The RiverKings held on to the lead and got a late empty net goal from Robert Lindores to seal the victory.

Peter Di Salvo (7-1-0) gets the win for the RiverKings with 23 saves and taking the loss is Brian Billett (6-2-3) who stopped 30 shots on 36 attempts.
