SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced today that the team has acquired the rights to goaltender Dan McWhinney from the Huntsville Havoc for future considerations.

McWhinney, 28, appeared in 47 games for the Havoc last season, tallying an 18-21-6 record with a 2.82 goals against average and a 91.8 save percentage before missing the post-season after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.

“I am very excited to acquire Dan,” Landmesser said. "I believe he will be a huge addition to our hockey team for the next season."

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario enters his eighth season in 2013-14. McWhinney backstopped Huntsville to an SPHL President’s Cup Championship in 2010 and New Jersey to a Federal Hockey League championship in 2011.

RiverKings season tickets are on sale now and are available by calling the RiverKings front office at 662-342-1755. Season tickets start at just $225 and payment plans are available. Since you have acquired this new guy...where does David Wilson stand? Is he no longer on the team, or are you using two goalies like last season?
