Scouting the Ice Bears

The Ice Bears enter the week in fifth place in the SPHL after going 1-1-1 last week with a loss on the road in Huntsville (4-0), a win at home against Pensacola (6-4) and an overtime loss in Peoria (3-2).

Knoxville has added some offensive firepower over the course of the last week. After re-signing center Ben Power, the Ice Bears signed former RiverKing Todd Hosmer following his release from ECHL Wichita. Hosmer, x, last played in the SPHL in the 2013-14 season and tallied 55 points (37G, 18A) in just 40 games and was +15. In three games so far for the Ice Bears, the Scarborough, Ont. native has two goals and is -3.

Defensively, the Ice Bears are led by the newly-crowned most veteran player in SPHL History, Jason Price. Price played in his 405th regular season contest, breaking Columbus' Orrin Hergott's previous record of 404. Price, alongside veteran netminder Bryan Hince headline the returning players from last season's SPHL championship team that includes defenseman Brad Pawlowski and forward Dennis Sicard.
