RiverKings Enter Final Month on the Road

WEEKEND RECAP: The RiverKings began their second three-in-three in as many weeks with a loss on Friday night at home against the Huntsville Havoc by the score of 3-2. On Saturday both teams headed to Huntsville to finish the back-to-back series. An early first period goal by the Havoc was all they needed to win 1-0 and complete the weekend sweep over the RiverKings. After the game, Mississippi packed up and headed to Columbus for a bounce-back matinee win over the Cottonmouths by the score of 4-2

RIVERKINGS: The RiverKings enter the final month of the season looking to build off another strong month.

• The RiverKings have given up the fewest amount of goals in the final frame of the game.
• Friday night’s loss marked the first time this season the RiverKings lost a game in regulation when leading after one.
• Mississippi’s Landers Center heavy end to the season includes six homes games in the final month. The team posts a 12-6-3 record on home ice.
• The RiverKings lead the league with a 25.5 success rate on the power play on the road. 

FLYING PAST THE PACK: The RiverKings look for their first win of the season against the Ice Flyers.
• In the three games against the RiverKings, the Ice Flyers have scored 18 goals including five on the power play.

• Pensacola is the first team in the league to have clinched a playoff spot.
• Six of the team’s last nine games of the season will be played away from the Pensacola Civic Center. The team currently has a 14-6-1 record on the road.
• Although the Ice Flyers produce the 3rd best power play squad in the league, the team holds the worst penalty kill unit, killing off 79.6% of its penalties.

SLITHERING ALONG: After Friday night’s game the RiverKings hit the road for its second visit to Columbus in as many weeks.
• The Cottonmouths are 3-6-1 in their last ten games including two straight losses to the RiverKings.

• Tied for the eighth and final playoff spot, the Snakes are 6-12-3 in one-goal games this season.
• Columbus has scored a league-leading 11 shorthanded goals this season.
• With a team-leading 22 assists, Tory Allan currently rides a six-game point streak.

COLLEGE NIGHT: This Friday’s game is College Night with group tickets starting at $8 each.

TEEN NIGHT: Friday night’s game is also teen night with tickets just $10. Teens receive a red-level ticket, a popcorn and soda.

AWAY GAME WATCH PARTY: Cheer on the RiverKings with fellow fans at Old Style Barbecue, the Official Headquarters of the RiverKings Away Game Watch Parties, on Saturday with all the action beginning at 6:30 p.m.

TURTLE SNAPS: Todd Hosmer returned to the lineup with a goal per game weekend…. Devin Mantha has two goals and two assists in his last five games for the RiverKings… Matt Krahn has started seven of the last ten games for the RiverKings with a 4-3 record, making 233 saves.
