SOUTHAVEN, Miss—The Mississippi RiverKings took game number two from the Augusta RiverHawks as Matt Krahn posted a shutout in his first professional game in a 2-0 victory.

Defense dominated the first two periods as both Krahn and rookie netminder Robert Moss made key saves on a number of scoring opportunities. Through the first 40 minutes, the RiverKings failed to capitalize on five power play chances as Moss kept the puck out of the net until the third.

Rookie Daniel Barczuk made his presence known the second night in a row with a goal and an assist in tonight’s game, totaling four points in this weekend’s two-game series with the RiverHawks. Barczuk’s goal came at the 2:37 mark of the third period, assisted by Nick Walsh and Ian Finnerty that put the RiverKings on top. The RiverKings added an insurance goal by Finnerty as he beat Moss high, glove side on a backhand from the slot that solidified the win.

The RiverKings shut down the RiverHawks on three power play chances. Matt Krahn stopped all 20 shots against in the win. Robert Moss took the loss after turning aside 38 of 40 shots.

The RiverKings next game is this Friday November 2 on home ice. You can get your tickets now in the Landers Center box office and ticketmaster.com

I am a former Memphian who works for the Department of Defense and lives in Naples, Italy. I was back in the states for several weeks and was able to see both games against Augusta while I was there. The Riverkings are one of the things I miss the most. They won both and looked relatively good doing it. Good luck to all during this year, although I will not be there anymore physically any more this year, I will be there in spirit. Good luck guys......bring home the President's Cup !!!!!
