Southaven, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings ended a two-game losing streak Tuesday morning as they knocked off the Huntsville Havoc 4-3 in a shootout at the Landers Center on the second Face Off Field Trip of the season.

The RiverKings had to come from behind as Mike MacDonald scored 7:40 into the first period to give the Havoc an early 1-0 lead.

Matt Whitehead tied the game up at one as his pass in front deflected off of a Huntsville defenseman and into the net with just 4:18 seconds left to go in the first frame.

The RiverKings came out firing early in the second period. Kyle Lundale ripped a one-timer from the point to beat Kevin Beech blocker side on the power play to put the home team up one just 1:51 into the second period.

Huntsville responded late in the same period as Glenn Detulleo converted on a Mike MacDonald pass to tie the game at two heading into the third period.

Just 31 seconds into the final fram, Ken Selby directed a pass toward the front of the net that deflected off of a Huntsville defender and into the back of the net to put the RiverKings up one early in the third. Mark Magnowski and Matt Whitehead tallied the helpers on Selby's 19th goal of the season.

But the lead did not last for long as Brad Flynn beat Scott Darling low blocker side just four minutes later to tie the game at three.

The score remained tied through the remainder of the third and the overtime period, forcing a shootout. Stuart Stefan put Huntsville on the board first and Mike MacDonald tied the score back up at two after Kyle Lundale and Mark Magnowski netted goals for the 'Kings.

In the eighth round, Jeff Topilko pulled at the top of the face-off circle and let a blast go by Kevin Beech to put the 'Kings up by one in the sudden death portion of the shootout. Scott Darling then made a pad save on Alex Morton to clinch the victory for the RiverKings.

Scott Darling (11-14-1) picked up the win after turning aside 32 of 35 shots aginst. Kevin Beech (10-6-3) took the loss as he stopped 23 of 26 shots against.

The RiverKings take to the ice Friday night to do battle against the Pensacola Ice Flyers in a rematch of last Saturday's action. The puck drops at 7:05 and David Schmoll has the call on radio-memphis.com and the America One television network.
