RiverKings announce first player signing for 25th season

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced today that the team has re-signed forward Ryan Marcuz ahead of the 2016-17 season. Terms and conditions were not released.

"I’m excited to have 'Cuz' back for this season," Landmesser said. "He brings a tremendous work ethic and does whatever it takes to win. He is a team-first player and you can’t have enough guys on your team like that."

Marcuz, 27, enters his fourth professional season, and has appeared with the RiverKings in each of those years. The 6-foot, 205-pound forward played in all 56 games last year and tallied 33 points (17G, 16A) in his second full-season. In 92 games with the RiverKings, the Richmond Hill, Ontario native has 26 goals and 31 assists.

"This is where I started my pro career and where I've made my home over the past few seasons so I'm excited to be coming back to Mississippi," Marcuz said. "With parts of three seasons under my belt, it's helped me feel more comfortable with the style of play in the league and develop into player who can have an impact night in and night out."

Marcuz joined the RiverKings after a four-year career at SUNY-Morrisville. In his junior season, Marcuz finished second on the team in scoring with 24 points in 24 games.

I live in Toronto, Canada… A place many consider the mecca of hockey. I've been a Maple Leaf fan all my life. Two seasons ago, while visiting Memphis, I got the chance to come see the River Kings. What a great brand of hockey! Fantastic pace, high level of skill, great fans!!! Coming back to Memphis this fall and I'm going to see the home opener against Evansville. Can't wait to see another river Kings game!! Wishing the club all the best this season !!! Go Kings!!!
