RiverKings Add Two in Swap with Marksmen

SOUTHAVEN, Miss - The Mississippi RiverKings and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser have announced the acquisition of defenseman Cody Walsh and forward Shane Bennett in a trade with Fayetteville. The RiverKings will send forward Jamie Hill to the Marksmen to complete the swap.

Walsh, 26, has played 16 games with the Marksmen where he registered a stat line of three goals and one assist. The Rolling Meadows, IL, native played college hockey at Davenport University and is in his second professional season. He was a pivotal piece to the Roanoke blueline in 2015-16 where he played in 55 games for the Rail Yard Dawgs before signing with Fayetteville this past offseason.

Bennett, 24, will continue his rookie season with the RiverKings. While with the Marksmen, Benett tallied three goals and added eight helpers in his 16 games played. Before coming to the SPHL, Bennett played a handful of games with SUNY- Cortland in 2015-16. The Grand Island, NY, native did not play hockey in college or professionally in the 2016-17 season.

In exchange for Walsh and Benett, the RiverKings give up Jamie Hill to the Marksmen. This is the third team for Hill this season as he played three games with the Macon Mayhem before coming to Mississippi where he played in 10 games and scored one goal and contributed three assists.

It's the second trade of the season between the two clubs after an offseason deal saw the RiverKings get goaltender Tyler Green and the rights to defensemen Nick Ravait and Grahame Strukoff in exchange for goaltender Pete Di Salvo and defenseman Joe Sova.

The newest RiverKings will be on display this Friday when the black and gold host the Birmingham Bull at Planters Bank Ice at Landers Center. For tickets for this Friday's game visit riverkings.com/ticketmaster or all the RiverKings front offices at 662-342-1755.
