RiverKings add pair to roster

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations announced today that the team has signed second-year goaltender Brad Barone and rookie defenseman Chris Luker. Terms and conditions were not released.

Barone, 25, split time last year with FHL Berlin, SPHL Louisiana and ECHL Atlanta in his rookie season. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound netminder finished the season with an 11-10-1 record with a 2.43 goals against average and a 92.8 save percentage in 23 games played with Louisiana.

"Brad had a very good rookie season and had some really big games against us," said Landmesser. "I believe he will be a big part of our success in that he will give us a chance to win every time he's in net."

"I was really impressed with the way Coach Landmesser got on the phone and called me as soon as he could to get me on board," said Barone. "Last year, I played a lot of games at the Landers Center and I really enjoyed playing there in one of the nicest rinks, great facilities, nice town and great fans. It's definitely an exciting place to play."

Luker, 24, joins the RiverKings after a four-year career at SUNY-Brockport. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound blueliner finished his senior season sixth on the team in points with 17 (4G, 13A), second-most amongst defenseman. The New Hartford, New York native appeared in 100 games during his collegiate career, recording 19 goals and 47 assists.

"Chris is a big, solid offensive defenseman who is coming off of a really good college career," said Landmesser. "I am looking forward to seeing him here in Mississippi as he makes the transition to the pro game."

"I've heard nothing but good things about the RiverKings organization," said Luker. "The RiverKings were one of the first teams that reached out to me and I'm excited about coming to this storied franchise."
