SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced today the team has signed goaltender Matt Krahn for the 2012-13 season.  Terms and conditions were not released.

"Matt had a very good junior career," said Landmesser. "I'm looking forward to Matt making the jump into professional hockey and to being a part of the RiverKings family."

Krahn expressed similar excitement to Coach Landmesser when discussing coming to the RiverKings.

"I've known a couple of guys who have played here and have said nothing but great things about the organization, especially if you want to move up in your hockey career," said Krahn.  "I've heard there's a great fan base that gives a lot of support and I'm ready to get started."

Krahn played four seasons in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and split time between Portage, Neepawa and OCN.  The 6'1", 200 pound netminder earned the MJHL top goaltender award in 2010-11 and was a second-team all-star last season.  Last year, the Winnipeg, Man. native went 24-23-0 with a 2.84 goals against average and a 91.3 save percentage for the OCN Blizzard.

The RiverKings kick off their 21st anniversary season at home against the Augusta RiverHawks on October 26 at 7:05 p.m. Single game tickets are on sale now on Ticketmaster.com and at the Landers Center Box Office.

The Mississippi RiverKings are supported by their community partners, season ticket holders, fans, and by program-related investments of the Maddox Foundation, an independent private foundation based in Hernando, Miss.
