Mississippi’s Rick Hanlon named SPHL Athletic Trainer of the Year

HUNTERSVILLE, NC – The Southern Professional Hockey League on Tuesday announced that Rick Hanlon of the Mississippi RiverKings is the recipient of the 2015-2016 SPHL Athletic Trainer of the Year Award.

The winner was determined by a vote of the league’s athletic trainers and equipment managers.

Now in his 11th season with the RiverKings, the St. Louis, Missouri native received his B.S. in Sports Medicine from Missouri Baptist College. Before joining the RiverKings, Hanlon spent two seasons with the UHL’s Missouri River Otters as assistant trainer from 1999-2001. He was then head trainer with the Roanoke Express of the ECHL from 2001-2004, before returning to the River Otters during the 2004-2005 season.
