Mississippi’s Jim Chesnut named Sportstape Equipment Manager of the Year

HUNTERSVILLE, NC – The Southern Professional Hockey League today announced that Jim Chesnut of the Mississippi RiverKIngs is the recipient of the 2015-2016 SPHL Equipment Manager of the Year Award, presented by Sportstape.

The winner was determined by a vote of the league’s equipment managers and athletic trainers.

A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Chesnut is currently in his second season with the RiverKings. Previously, he was the equipment manager for the Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL) from 2004 to 2006. He then became the equipment manager with the Oklahoma City Blazers (CHL) before taking the same position with the Augusta RiverHawks (SPHL) for the 2011-12 season. After his one season with Augusta, Chesnut returned to the CHL as equipment manager for the Tulsa Oilers for the 2012-13 season. Earlier this season, Chesnut was honored by the RiverKings for working his 1,000th professional game.
