BILOXI, Miss. -- Devin Mantha tallied two third-period goals and Dan McWhinney stopped 28 of 29 shots against as the Mississippi RiverKings (17-9-2) knocked off the Mississippi Surge (13-15-1) with a 2-1 effort on the road.

The teams traded chances through the first 40 minutes, but the teams went a combined 0-7 on the power play before play opened up over a five-minute span in the third. Kyle Fletcher deflected a Nick Kuqali shot past Dan McWhinney 6:53 into the final frame to give the Surge a 1-0 lead.

Two minutes later, the RiverKings began the comeback. Mike Hartviksen found Devin Mantha in the slot who beat Dan Clarke between the legs to tie the game at one. Three minutes later, Mantha struck again when his wrist shot beat Clarke over the glove to put the RiverKings up 2-1. The Surge had a late power play opportunity with the net empty, but the RiverKings killed off the 1:04-man-advantage to take the one-goal victory on the road.

Dan McWhinney (9-6-0) stopped 28 of 29 shots in the victory. Dan Clarke (5-7-1) turned aside 39 of 41 shots in the loss.
