FAYETTEVILLE, NC. -- The Fayetteville FireAntz (28-14-3) capitalized on a late power-play opportunity to knock off the Mississippi RiverKings (18-22-7) 6-4 in Fayetteville on Saturday night.

The FireAntz took the lead early in the game. Six minutes in, John Clewlow broke free on a breakaway and beat Matt Krahn glove side to put the 'Antz ahead 1-0. But the RiverKings fought back with two goals. Adam Feniak's shot from the point beat Marco Emond to tie the game at one on the power play. Then, with 1:29 remaining in the period, Matt Whitehead batted a rebound past Emond to put the 'Kings ahead 2-1 heading into the first intermission.

The second period began with a goaltending change after Emond took a hit in the crease earlier in the first and was replaced by Kyle Rank. Twenty-one seconds later, Fayetteville tied it up. Bobby Reed picked up a loose puck out in front and buried it past Krahn. Fayetteville took the lead midway through the middle frame on Josh McQuade's league leading 37th goal of the season to head into the second intermission ahead 3-2.

In the third, the RiverKings tied it early. Kevin Willer scored on a short-handed breakaway at the 3:28 mark to tie the game at three. Fayetteville retook the lead as Brandon Richardson found the back of the net on a pass from Aaron Atwell at the 9:16 mark of the final period. Two minutes later, with the extra attacker on for a delayed penalty, Adam Feniak tallied his second goal of the game as his shot beat Rank to tie the game at four.

But a late power-play for Fayetteville gave the FireAntz the eventual game-winner. Andrew Smale redirected a McQuade pass past Krahn to put the 'Antz up for good. Clewlow added an empty-net goal to give the FireAntz their second win in as many nights against the 'Kings with the 6-4 final.

Matt Krahn () took the loss after stopping 36 of 41 shots against. Kyle Rank () picked up the win in relief of Marco Emond, as he stopped 18 of 20 shots in 40 minutes of play.
