BILOXI, Miss. -- Matthew Krahn stopped all 37 shots against as the Mississippi RiverKings (22-23-8) moved one step closer to the playoffs with a decisive 3-0 victory over the Mississippi Surge (23-23-7) on Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, the RiverKings tallied the first goal of the game midway through the second. Mike MacDonald's wrist shot beat B.J. O'Brien glove side 7:15 into the middle frame to put the 'Kings up by one. Ten minutes later, the visitors added to their lead. Ian Finnerty took a Chris Campanale pass and buried the puck past O'Brien to give the RiverKings a 2-0 lead heading into the second intermission.

The 'Kings did not wait long to strike in the third. MacDonald notched his second goal of the game from Darrell Stoddard as the RiverKings took a 3-0 lead just 1:20 into the period. But the Surge did not go quietly as Matt Krahn made key saves late in the third as he held on to pick up his third shutout of the season as the 'Kings won their fourth straight, a 3-0 victory.

Matt Krahn (14-13-4) picked up the win after stopping all 37 shots against. B.J. O'Brien (2-12-2) turned aside 26 of 29 shots against in the loss.

With the loss by Augusta in a shootout, the RiverKings have clinched a playoff spot in the 2012-13 playoffs.
