'Kings Prepare for Familiar Fayetteville on Home Ice

WEEKEND RECAP: The Mississippi RiverKings (18-22-7) are coming off of a two game weekend on the road in Fayetteville, NC. Friday, the RiverKings fell to the FireAntz 4-3 in overtime. Saturday night the team was back on Fayetteville's ice, where a back-and-forth game ended up in Fayetteville's favor, 6-4.

THE MATT SHOW: Matt Whitehead and Matt Harrington tallied a combined six points last weekend. Both players had three points in both games and extended their point scoring streaks to eight games (Harrington) and seven games (Whitehead). Both are currently the longest streaks in the SPHL. 

ROSTER MOVES: Last Thursday, the 'Kings signed Henry Coxe to a contract and waived Tomas Busek. Andrew Randazzo was placed on the season-ending IR and Todd Hosmer was placed on the 30-day IR. Friday, the RiverKings signed Mike Hayward before Campbell Elynuik signed a three-game contract the following day. In his first professional game, Elynuik tallied an assist Saturday night. 

MISSISSIPPI MILESTONES: Matt Whitehead is thirteen points away from 200th of his career and seven games away from his 200th professional game. Darrell Stoddard is two goals away from the 100th of his career, all with the Memphis/Mississippi RiverKings organization. 

WE MEET AGAIN: Before making their way to Southaven for a two-game rematch at the Landers Center, the Fayetteville FireAntz will stop in Knoxville Thursday night to take on the Ice Bears at 6:35 p.m. Fayetteville enters this week on a three-game winning streak and back in first-place after gaining four points this weekend. Brandon Richardson tallied a combined five points (1G, 4A) this weekend against the RiverKings

This week is full of appearance for the RiverKings team. Tonight, the 2012-2013 team will be at Yo Sweetz in Southaven for a Meet and Greet in preparation for "Pray for Ava Night." Tuesday, the Coach's Show is back at Maria's Cantina in Southaven at 7 p.m. Wednesday, the team will be at Three Guy's Pizza for the RiverKings 7th Man "Player Waiter Dinner." Thursday night, the 'Kings will be at Pecan Grove Apartments in Walls, Mississippi for a Meet and Greet. This is a free event and will run from 4-6 p.m. Food will be provided by Walls Southern Cooking.

PRAY FOR AVA NIGHT: Join us Saturday March 2nd when the RiverKings raise awareness for Pediatric Brian Cancer on “Pray for Ava Night” when the ‘Kings take on the Fayetteville FireAntz at 7:05 p.m. at the Landers Center. Every seat in the building is $5 off, with $3 of every ticket benefiting local pediatric brain cancer efforts.
