SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- The Mississippi RiverKings and the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that the RiverKings will replace the Huntsville Havoc in the exhibition game in Bossier-Shreveport.

"We are excited to be able to send the RiverKings to play in a building they are very familiar with," SPHL President Jim Combs said. "I’m sure Mudbugs fans still remember some of the great Central Hockey League games between the two teams."

RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser echoed Combs' enthusiasm with bringing professional hockey to Bossier-Shreveport.

"The Mississippi RiverKings are excited to bring hockey back to Bossier-Shreveport," Landmesser said. "This city was one of our biggest rivals from our days in the Central League and we're looking forward to showcasing the SPHL to the people of Bossier-Shreveport."

The RiverKings will venture back to a city they frequented during their 19-year affiliation with the Central Hockey League when they march into CenturyLink Center on October 19 to face the Gators. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.

RiverKings' fans get their first glance at their 2012-13 team on Sunday, October 19 at 3:05 as the 'Kings square off against Huntsville in their last tune-up before the home opener on Oct. 26. Tickets for the exhibition game are available online or at the Landers Center Box Office. Every seat is only $10.

The RiverKings kick off their 21st anniversary season at home against the Augusta RiverHawks on October 26 at 7:05 p.m. Single game tickets are on sale now on Ticketmaster.com and at the Landers Center Box Office.

The Mississippi RiverKings are supported by their community partners, season ticket holders, fans, and by program-related investments of the Maddox Foundation, an independent private foundation based in Hernando, Miss.
