HERNANDO, Miss. – The Jr. StreetKings Youth Roller Hockey league concluded its 2014 Spring Regular Season with one of the closest finishes in recent memory.

The season began with 13 new players ranging ages 4-14. Altogether, the spring saw a 20 percent increase from the prior season with a total of 47 players signed up.

The Super Drugs Swarm, Country Ford Hawks, and Rebels, began the campaign six weeks ago and fought their way to the final week of the regular season. Going into the final game, 1st place came down to a battle between the Rebels and the Hawks with the winner advancing to the championship game.

The first half was a defensive battle that ended in a 3-3 tie, but the action heated up after halftime. The Rebels grabbed the momentum and took the lead with goals from Samuel McLeane and the league’s leading scorer, Tanner Ogle. However, the Hawk’s 3rd liners, Cooper Mapes, Marli Reynolds, Jack Jewell, and Zack White, wouldn’t be outdone scoring three quick goals on the last shift to take the lead and the regular season title.

The Jr. StreetKings Spring Playoffs begin Tuesday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hernando Civic Center. The championship game is Thursday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m. The entire playoffs will include music and a special celebrity puck dropper.

Registration for the Fall season begins June 1, 2014. For more information on the Jr. StreetKings Youth Roller Hockey League, please visit www.jrstreetkings.com or contact Colby Dorris at 662-342-1755 or colby@riverkings.com.
