HERNANDO, Miss.—Since early April, the players in the Jr. StreetKings Roller Hockey League had been battling for one thing: the Spring Championships.

A season that began with 15 first time players, ended with the excitement everyone could hope for. Led by Landon Ellis’ five goals and two assists, the Sharks won the Jr. StreetKings Spring 2013 Championship over the Predators 11-8. The Jr. StreetKings saw a 52% increase in registration from 31 players in the fall season to 47 in the spring.

The first round of the playoffs began with late-game heroics by the Predators’ Samuel McLeane, who notched the game-winning goal as time expired against the Warriors to give the Predators a spot in the championship game. The 8-7 loss sent the Warriors to the consolation game where they awaited the loser of Boomer’s vs. Sharks. The Sharks’ Colton Cleary chose the perfect time to score his first career goal as it sealed his team’s trip to the championship game with an 8-6 win and sent Boomer’s to the consolation game.

After Boomer’s knocked off the Warriors for 3rd place, the championship game featured non-stop action as the Sharks and Predators battled for the top spot. As the final period ticked away, the Sharks held off the Predators to take the game, 11-8, and claim their place atop the Spring 2013 season as champions.

The Jr. StreetKings Roller Hockey League is directed by Josh Herbert and is for boys and girls ages 3-14. Registration for the Summer 2013 League is open now through June 24, 2013.
