HERNANDO, Miss. – The Jr. StreetKings Roller Hockey Program hosted it’s ‘Learn to Skate’ camp May 8, 9 and 10, teaching Mid-South youngsters how to rollerblade and improve upon their roller hockey skills before the 2012 Jr. StreetKings Spring League begins Tuesday, May 15.

Jr. StreetKings is a roller hockey league for youth ages 4 to 17 years old, and is directed by Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach Derek Landmesser. Jr. StreetKings hosts all of its practices, games and events, at the outdoor roller rink on the grounds of the Hernando Civic Center (3800 Robertson Gin Road).

May 8-10, Landmesser and other RiverKings front office staff instructed camp participants on the basics of roller skating. Over the course of the three evening clinic, youth became more comfortable on their skates, and completed drills teaching them how to make turns, stop, and testing their speed.

Registration is still open and underway for the 2012 Jr. StreetKings Spring League which starts Tuesday, May 15 with player evaluations, beginning at 6 PM at the Hernando Civic Center roller rink.

The Jr. StreetKings league registration fee is $100 per participant, and players must provide their own equipment (league scholarships are available).
