SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Sean Jones notched a pair of goals as the Mississippi RiverKings (25-17-3) took a 4-2 victory on the road against the Columbus Cottonmouths (19-22-3) on Sunday afternoon.

After a scoreless first period and beginning to the second, the RiverKings offense took off at the end of the middle frame. Todd Hosmer's wrist shot on the power play beat Curtis Martinu over the blocker 14:23 into the second to put the RiverKings up by one. Twenty-one seconds later, Sean Jones tallied his first goal of the game on a redirect from Matt Harrington as the RiverKings took a 2-0 lead. With Matt Smyth in penalty box for the RiverKings, Devin Mantha wristed a shot over Martinu for a shorthanded goal with less than two minutes remaining in the second to send the RiverKings into the second intermission ahead 3-0.

The RiverKings extended their lead in the third. Jones buried a pass from Burke Gallimore over the blocker of Martinu 7:19 into the final frame to give the RiverKings a 4-0 lead.

But the Snakes battled back. Tory Allan tallied a power-play goal from Andy Willigar and Preston Shupe 8:58 into the third period to cut the RiverKings' lead to 4-1. Columbus added a second goal on a Mike Switzer breakaway from Sam Bowles 17:40 into the third, but the RiverKings held on for the 4-2 victory.

Matt Krahn (13-8-3) picked up the win after stopping 37 of 39 shots against. Curtis Martinu (0-2-1) stopped 35 of 39 shots in the loss.
