Internship Opportunities Available

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Are you interested in learning the ins and outs of the sports industry? The Mississippi RiverKings have various internship opportunities available for the upcoming season.

The team has openings in Media Relations, Community Development, Game Operations and Ticket Operations. Job descriptions are below.

Ticket Operations/Customer Service Internship Description

- Assist in game night ticket operations
- Supervising the main box office windows
- Organizing and maintaining will call
- Process complementary tickets for players and staff
- Assist in ticket reconciliation and nightly reports
- Assist in sales staff at Fan Services
- Assist in game operations set-up and take-down
- Make out-going phone calls

Skills Needed


- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Experience with ticketing software preferred, but not required

Availability

- All (28) RiverKings home games
- Some weekend and holiday work will be necessary

Game Operations Internship Description

- Responsible for the creating of the 2012-13 Introduction Video
- Communicate with the building on issues relating to graphics and video production
- Create a diverse music library for game night
- Coordinate and direct the game night production
- Write game scripts and promotional reads
- Other assignments as needed to be assigned by supervisor.

Skills Needed

- Ability to think quickly and make immediate changes in a high pressure situation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge or ability to learn Final Cut Pro and/or iMovie video editing software
- Working knowledge of Photoshop or InDesign or ability to learn
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to create new content

Availability

- All (28) RiverKings home games (including Face-Off Field Trip Games)
- Some weekend work will be necessary.

Communications, Marketing and Broadcasting Internship Description

- Write nightly Game Notes
- Write feature stories for publishing on riverkings.com and new monthly game night magazine
- Contribute articles for the new riverkings.com blog.
- Pitch story ideas for riverkings.com, riverkings.com blog and game night magazine.
- Interview players and coaches for intermission interviews.
- Design magazine and newspaper ads
- Weekend community development appearances
- Development of “Not Just Hockey” marketing plan
- Concept development and writing of radio, newspaper and television ads.
- Assist with the running of all RiverKings social media platforms and the Jr. StreetKings’ website.
- Other assignments as needed to be assigned by supervisor.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate to various audiences
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to create new content and story ideas

Availability

- All (28) RiverKings home games (Including Face-Off Field Trip Games)
- Some weekend work will be necessary.

Community Development Intern Description

- Help plan, organize and promote one of our department’s feature events, “Face Off Field Trip”
- Contacting schools
- Recording reservations
- Tracking payments
- Seating schools
- Plan, attend and document (take photos, video) player and mascot appearances in the community
- Work with our non-profit groups to promote them, their causes and help get our fans involved
- Develop fun materials (newsletters, puzzles, etc.) and game night projects for our team’s Kids’ Club
- Help plan, organize and promote our ‘Teen Star’ Community Service Award
- Work as a liaison with the RiverKings Fan Club
- Helping get new fans involved with the club
- Helping the club organize events, attend and document their events
- Review, process and fill donation requests
- Pitch and create new community involvement programs and ideas for the team
- Post to and manage community development content on team’s website
- Work with Puck Toss and Post-Game skate organizations on game nights

Skills Needed

- Very well organized and detail oriented
- Event planning oriented
- Have fundraising experience (willing to learn!)
- Work well with children
- Good public speaker
- Photography and Videography skills

Availability

- All RiverKings home games (Both Face Off Field Trips are mandatory)
- Work weekends as needed (5Ks, fundraisers, fairs, etc.)
- At least 7-10 hours of office work a week
