First Half Ends with Fireworks

HERNANDO, Miss.,- The Gladiators extended their winning streak to five, as the Sharks took a two point lead over the Stars in the battle for second place.

The Sharks and Stars kicked off the week on Tuesday night. The first half was dominated by the player wearing number five for each team, Carson Middleton and Brady Bienvenu for the Sharks and Stars respectively. They combined for five goals and one assist in the first half alone, as the Stars took a slim 5-4 lead into intermission.

The Sharks struck for five unanswered goals only four minutes into the second half. Hunter Cleary tallied another hat trick but it wasn't enough, as the Stars fell 17-10. Conner Iverson had a big game for the Sharks with a hat trick and two assists.

The final game of the week featured the Super Drug Stars (1-4) attempting to dethrone the undefeated Gladiators (4-0). The game began as a close contest until the Gladiators’ Nathan Gomez netted his second goal of the half to put his team up by three goals.The Davis brothers, William and Walker, and the Stars tried to make a comeback but the Gladiators held them off to win 13-11 and remain unbeaten.

There will be no game on Monday, September 1 due to the Labor Day holiday. The second half of the regular season will begin on Tuesday with the Sharks taking on the Stars. Both teams will look to gain ground on the Gladiators before the playoffs begin on September 23.
