BILOXI, Miss. -- The Mississippi RiverKings (17-20-6) snapped a four-game losing streak with Adam Feniak's overtime, game-winning goal that lifted the 'Kings over the Mississippi Surge (18-19-5) on Thursday night.

The Surge took the lead midway through the first. Kyle Kudroch beat Matt Krahn to put the Surge up 1-0 just 7:57 into the action. But the 'Kings struck back late in the period. Matt Whitehead ripped a slap-shot past Kiefer Smiley on a breakaway with 1:21 remaining in the first to tie the game going into the first intermission.

The second period began the same way as the first. Kyle VanderMale picked up a loose puck in front of Krahn on a rebound and beat the 'Kings netminder to put the Surge ahead 2-1. The 'Kings fought back again, as Matt Harrington banked the puck in over the leg of Smiley to tie the game heading into the third period.

After a scoreless third, the teams headed into overtime. Just 1:26 into the overtime period, Matt Whitehead dropped a pass to Adam Feniak who's wrist-shot beat Smiley blocker-side to give the 'Kings the 3-2 victory.

Matt Krahn (9-12-3) picked up the victory after stopping 34 of 36 shots against. Kiefer Smiley (10-14-2) after stopping 22 of 25 shots against.

The RiverKings return to the ice tomorrow night against the Louisiana IceGators in Lafayette. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. with all the action airing live on Sports 56 and 87.7FM. To stay up-to-date on all things RiverKings, “like” us on Facebook (facebook.com/mississippiriverkings) and “follow” us on Twitter (twitter.com/riverkings).
