SKID HITS FIVE: The RiverKings enter this weekend on a five-game losing streak, including losses to the Huntsville Havoc and Mississippi Surge, who they will see this week, on Friday and Saturday nights. The 'Kings are 0-4-1 during the losing streak.

THE FIRST GOAL IS THE MOST IMPORTANT: When scoring first, the RiverKings hold a 12-4-2 record. The last time the 'Kings scored the first goal was their 6-3 victory over Huntsville on January 11, the team's last victory.

BELIEVE IN THE BEARD: Todd Hosmer currently leads the team and all rookies in points with 30. He has points in 11 of his last 19 games and carries a two-game point streak into this week's action. Hosmer's 14 goals rank him second amongst SPHL rookies and fifth in the entire league.

VIEW FROM HUNTSVILLE: After a slow start to the season, the Havoc have a 10-4-3 record since December 14 and come into today’s game on a two-game winning streak and are 3-1-1 in their last five games. Huntsville is coming off a 5-1 victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears at home. Brent Tamane scored two goals and the Havoc notched two power play goals en route to their third win over the Ice Bears this season. Huntsville has allowed power play goals in three straight games.

BATTLE OF MISSISSIPPI PT. VII: The Mississippi Surge return to the Landers Center on Friday night for their seventh meeting with the RiverKings this season. The Surge hold a 6-0-0 record against the 'Kings this season and have outscored the home-team 24-8 in those games. Goaltender Kiefer Smiley boasts a 1.00 goals against average and a 96.9 save percentage.

SNAKES BACK IN TOWN: Columbus comes to the Landers Center on Saturday night for the third meeting between the two teams this season. The 'Kings hold a 2-0-0 record over Columbus and have outscored the defending SPHL champions 8-4 in those two games. Alex McLeod leads the Snakes with four points in two games against the 'Kings, while Matt Whitehead has four points in two games for the RiverKings against the Cottonmouths.

12TH FACE OFF FIELD TRIP: The Missisippi RiverKings host their 12th Face Off Field Trip, presented by Belhaven University, when they battle against the Huntsville Havoc on Tuesday, January 29 at 10:35 a.m. For more information on the RiverKings Face Off Field Trip experience, check out www.riverkings.com/faceofffieldtrip.

PUPS N PUCKS: The RiverKings host their annual Pups N Pucks Night promotion on Friday, February 1 when the team takes on the Mississippi Surge. Pups can sit with their owners during the game, but all dogs must have proof of up-to-date vaccinations. Dog tickets can be purchased through the RiverKings front office for $10 and owners wishing to register their dachshund for the wiener dog race during the first intermission can do so by emailing Josh Herbert at josh@riverkings.com
