Coach Landmesser teaches hockey at Blann's Martial Arts Camp

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach Derek Landmesser visited Blann's Martial Arts on June 11 to teach their summer campers basic fundamentals of hockey as part of the RiverKings "Sticks are for Kids" program.

Coach Landmesser taught the campers the proper way to hold a hockey stick, how to play as a team and the different ways to shoot and pass. RiverKings mascot Sheldon the Turtle was also there to help with the demonstration.

"I cannot begin to say how much we appreciate the RiverKings coming to our summer camps," said Vicki Blann, one of the owners of Blann's Martial Arts. "The interaction with our kids along with all the knowledge the RiverKings bring regarding hockey is priceless. We sincerely appreciate Coach Landmesser and Sheldon taking out the time from their busy schedules to entertain as well as educate us and our campers."

After Coach Landmesser's hockey demonstration the campers were broken up into teams and played a game for the remaining time. Sheldon signed autographs and campers received special bookmarks afterward. The RiverKings will hold another "Sticks are for Kids" program at Blann's Martial Arts on Thursday, June 25.
