Chev Wilson Signs

Southaven, Miss. -- The Mississippi RiverKings announced the signing of forward Chev Wilson to a contract on Sunday. Terms and conditions were not released.

"We're very excited to have Chev here in Southaven," RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser said. "He's strong in both the offensive and defensive zones and we're looking for big things out of him for the rest of the season."

Wilson played his junior hockey with the Fort Saskatchewan Traders and the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He had his best statistical season in 2005-06 where he laced up in 60 games recording 65 points (24G, 41A) with 216 penalty minutes. He then played college hockey at Niagara University, U. of Alberta and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology where he played with current RiverKings forward Jeff Topilko.

The St. Albert, Alberta native played had been playing with the RiverKings on a three-game tryout contract prior to Sunday's game. In four games with the RiverKings, the 5-10, 170 pound forward picked up three assists and is +1.

The RiverKings look to keep their winning ways going at the Landers Center on Saturday, January 28 as they take on the Fayetteville FireAntz at 7:05. It's Pack the House and National Wild Turkey Federation Jersey Night as the team will wear specially designed NWTF jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.
