SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Phil Bronner tallied the game-winning goal against his former team as the Mississippi RiverKings (19-9-2) completed the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears (13-12-4) in overtime to extend their winning streak to three on Saturday night in Southaven.

After a scoreless first period, the teams combined for five goals in the second. The RiverKings jumped out to a two-goal lead early in the period as Leo Thomas and Matt Harrington collected goals 30 seconds apart to put the team up 2-0. But Knoxville scored three unassisted goals beginning with Jeremy Klaver's shot that beat Dan McWhinney, cutting their deficit to one. Three minutes later, Mark Van Vliet tied the game at two with assists from Tom Craig and Ben Schoeneberger. With five minutes remaining in the second, Francis Drolet gave the Ice Bears the lead on a power play goal to send the visitors into the locker room with a 3-2 lead.

In the third, the RiverKings tied it up early on. Ryan Hill's shot through traffic beat Bryan Hince just 1:58 into the final frame to tie the game at three. After 18 minutes of scoreless hockey followed, the teams headed to overtime.

The RiverKings wasted little time ending the game in overtime. With Jon Higgins in the penalty box serving a cross-checking penalty, Phil Bronner notched the game-winning goal against his former team to give the RiverKings their third win in a row.

Dan McWhinney (10-6-0) stopped 32 of 35 shots against in the win. Bryan Hince (13-9-3) turned aside 33 of 37 shots in the loss.

The RiverKings return to the Landers Center on Thursday, January 23 against the Mississippi Surge at 7:05 p.m. for a $2 Thursday. Fans receive $2 off draft beer, $2 hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks. To purchase tickets, visit the Landers Center Box Office, or purchase online at ticketmaster.com.
