Boy Scouts and RiverKings Team Up for Successful Scout Night

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- It was a Boy Scout takeover of the Mississippi RiverKings game Friday night.

The RiverKings hosted their annual Scout Night on Friday, November 15 in conjunction with the Chickasaw Council. Through their fundraiser with the RiverKings, the Chickasaw Council earned over $500 for their projects throughout the Tri-State Area.

Alex Pelletier, Northwest Mississippi District Executive for the Chickasaw Council, likes the exposure his organization received as the game's MVP Non-Profit of the night and the overall experience for the Scouts in attendance.

"It's an event that a lot of the boys may not normally get to go see," Pelletier said. "This fundraiser gives them the opportunity to enjoy the game and receive the recognition during the game through intermission activities, the puck drop and flag ceremony. It's helped us with additional exposure and the kids always have a good time."

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

The Chickasaw Council serves youth in the Mid-South, covering 17 counties, including, Shelby County in Tennesseee, Crittenden County in Arkansas and these Mississippi counties; Bolivar, Carroll, Coahoma, DeSoto, Grenada, Humphries, LeFlore, Montgomery, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tunica, and Washington.
