Augusta to Sit Out 2013-14 SPHL Season

HUNTERSVILLE, NC – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced the Augusta RiverHawks will be suspending play for the 2013-2014 season, due to the uncertainty surrounding repair of the ice system at the James Brown Arena.

The RiverHawks were forced to play their final eight home games at their practice facility after the system that cools the ice failed.

“We are disappointed that Augusta has been forced to make this decision,” stated league president Jim Combs. “We will continue to work with (owner) Bob Kerzner and the arena to resolve the situation as soon as possible.”

The Mississippi RiverKings celebrate their 22nd season of hockey in the Mid-South with the 2013-14 season.
