SPHL Teams Collect Over 9,650 Toys For Local Charities

HUNTERSVILLE, NC – The Southern Professional Hockey League, in conjunction with its mem- ber clubs, today announced the league’s first-ever 5K Toy Drive has collected over 9,650 toys for local charities. Mike Moran named SPHL player of the week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Mike Moran of the Mississippi RiverKings is the Bauer Player of the Week for December 12-18. Moran scored three goals, including one game-winner, and added three assists in leading Mississippi to a 2-0-1 record last week and helping the RiverKings move into a tie for second place in the SPHL standings. Shorthanded RiverKings earn weekend sweep with 4-3 win

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.  -- The Mississippi RiverKings (14-5-1) skated with only 14 skaters and lost another midway through the second period, but came from behind to beat the Knoxville Ice Bears (9-6-2) 4-3 to earn a weekend series sweep in Knoxville on Saturday night. RiverKings power play scores 2 in win

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. –  The RiverKings showed their resiliency once again, coming back and winning over the Knoxville Ice Bears 6-4 Friday night in Knoxville, Tennessee. The RiverKings power play scored 2 goals on the SPHL's top penalty kill.  Trever Hertz scored first for the Ice Bears a minute and twenty-seven seconds in to the game giving the Ice Bears the early lead. RiverKings Raise $1,386 for Smoky Mountains Recovery Efforts

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. –  The Mississippi RiverKings announced that the December 3 game against the Pensacola Ice Flyers raised $1,386 for the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville Emergency Response Fund at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Grants from the Fund will be made to nonprofits providing assistance both immediate and long term. RiverKings lose in overtime to Evansville

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. –  The Mississippi RiverKings (12-5-1) were handed their first overtime loss of the season Tuesday as the Evansville Thunderbolts (7-10-3) won 6-5 in the extra frame at the Lander Center. The Thunderbolts struck first on a goal from Phil Bronner off a faceoff that deflected in to beat Brad Barone.
